Right, so you may or may not have seen my last post, reflecting on the different Isaacs I play, and the different angles of his personality I've been able to explore with them. I've gained a few more Isaacs, split off a future or two, and advanced story lines and characterizations. Read or skip, its up to you.
In one RPG (
12monthsback), the Heroes storyline is set 1 year before Genesis, and has since gone extremely AU. Abilities surface earlier, certain relationships are spared from destruction, and pretty much every one is alive (Even Charles is a lively old dude right now). Due partly to misremembering canon, in this one Isaac and Simone have known eachother since children, and the Sisaac is always in full force and pretty much adorable (Isaac hasn't gotten into his drug addiction yet in this RPG, although he has experimented). 12MB lets me explore a happier, more flirtatious Isaac. (It turns out, however, that he is still an ass.) Given that the Peter's player has chosen to RP Paire, there is no likelihood of a Peter/Simone/Isaac triangle any time in the near future.
UPDATE: Isaac and Simone have been creating their own problems as of late. Rather literally. Simone blurted out that she was pregnant in THE MOST AWKWARD WAY EVER, and Isaac has pretty much been hiding from her like a little coward ever since. Recently, he's been trying to patch things up--even going to Charles and Peter for some help. I take this moment to mention that Isaac and Charles have THE BEST Father/Son-in-Law relationship EVER. Things are about to take a turn for the horrible worst, however, and that will be a fun change from the way he's been. (But no worries we--you KNOW who you are--have a back up plan in place. And I WILL hold you to it. ;))
In another (
heroesrpg), the storyline is set post-Exploding Man, and all of the previously dead people have been mysteriously revived by an unknown figure, disorientated and confused. Given that this one is much more canon, the Peter/Simone/Isaac triangle is a given, and while there has only been a glancing appearance of Peter in Isaac and Simone's life since they woke up in a strange non-hospital, every moment has been rife with the tension and stress involving the triangle. At the same time, Simone has forgotten just how she died, and Isaac has been avoiding the subject as best as he can. Add on emotional-empathy on Simone's side, and Isaac believing that Sylar has raped him of his powers, and there's a lot of emotional instability and angsting for Isaac and Simone to be doing.
UPDATE: Not a lot has changed here. Isaac has thrown himself all over the tracks and been trampled time and again by Simone, but she seems unable to quit commit to going back to him. Something dangerous is nearing, though, while Peter is still in the hospital, and the two are about to investigate Kirby Plaza...so who knows what the future may hold in store for them?
An alternate to 12MB is
12monthsfuture, which, as is clear by the name, is a spin off of 12MB, putting the characters in a 5YG-esque position, in which Isaac has unwittingly caused the death of a child while trying to prevent the painting of its death, lost Simone, fallen into drugs, and become involved in multiple destructive relationships along his path of forgetting Simone. This, for me, helps to illustrate that Isaac's life can still end up just as bad, if not worse, as his canon one.
UPDATE: This story has come to a completion forty RP years in the making. After all of their strife, the surviving original twin, Iris, is able to bring Simone and Isaac back together, and some time around 2023 they finally tie the knot and build a family. They're both weathered and matured from everything they had to endure, but from here on out, things are going to finally get better, and Iris is rather thrilled that she's finally getting another brother.
ANOTHER 12MF STORYLINE: In this one, the government is able to produce chips that can control special powers, limit them, turn them off, and most importantly, kill whomever they are implanted in. When Peter took out New York, the Military saw the potential that people like he presented, and now specials are herded to farms and made into experiments and varying forms of slaves. After the destruction of New York, Isaac's family was ripped apart by the sweepers--government assigned specials, that drag people in--and Isaac's been kept in a small room for the past five years, his only human contact through those delivering fresh canvas, and carting away used. He's a broken soul, and more than a little insane. His only scrap of sanity clings to the impossible hope that somewhere out there, Simone is still waiting, that one day he'll escape or be freed, and they can all be together again.
He stashes Simone sketches under his pillow, to keep them safe and close.
A new RP I'm Isaac in is
heroes_whatif This is AU from Homecoming onward, and will also eventually be Paire. Isaac's fresh off of Eden's clean house, with a new burst of determination from Hiro, and hoping to win Simone back. He's also ran into an old Puerto Rican acquaintance, who seems to be a fan of his work.
Finally, the newest RPG I'm in is the Year of Hell RPG Its actually an AU Heroes/Doctor Who/Torchwood RPG, set in Five Years Gone and the third Season Finale of DW. (Shortly after the first TW finale). Isaac's got quite a few complexities going on in this RPG--when the time came to die by Sylar, all those years ago, he couldn't stomach it, and ran. He therefore blames himself for NYC going up. For five years he hid, pretending to be nothing at all--long dead and forgotten--as 'Nathan' slowly exerted more and more pressure on his kind.
When he accidentally draws a picture of a young woman murdered by Sylar--long thought dead--his world is turned upside down. In the space of a year, he gathers others like him, willing to fight, not ready to give into the genocide that the population seemed to so readily accept. Before he knew it, he had a full fledged mobile rebel/terrorist base, and a once-dead girl as his adviser. Things have only gotten more complicated, since obtaining care of Nathan's--who he soon learned was Sylar--secretary, Elle, who had fallen out of favor. As the three fandoms collide violently, the world that Isaac has set up quickly shatters and crumbles under the pressure, all his closest confidantes dying one after another.
Now, he finds himself on a strange alien space ship, with only the blonde secretary as a companion, and two thirds of the human race dead. He really is the most complex and confusing of all my Isaacs. He has issues layered in issues, strengths and weaknesses tangled together, and something of a lost boy complex, while he struggles to save a world and universe from threats he doesn't even really understand.
He's snarky, he's emo, he's sweet, he's noble, he's selfish, he's cruel, he's determined, and he's completely hopeless. He's just convoluted and rather amazing to play, really.
